How Do You Open the Eyes of Your Heart?
March 18, 2024
Paul Baloche wrote the popular worship song, “Open the Eyes of My Heart.” It’s a fascinating concept, since our hearts don’t actually have eyes, right?
The song was inspired by Ephesians 1:18 which says, “I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance in his holy people.”
It seems that the writer was using heart, not in terms of our blood-pumping organ, but rather as a spiritual heart, the center of our spirit and emotions. So how can we learn to see from this heart, so we may know hope?
I believe it comes from learning how God sees and choosing to see the same way. As we learn how God looks at us and the world, we can begin to see with the eyes of our heart…with God’s heart.
Remember, choose hope today.
