Know Anybody Different Than You?
April 2, 2024
It’s easy to hang out with people who are mostly just like you. And what that seems to do is make it very difficult to understand or be compassionate toward people who might be different than you.
I’ve worked very intentionally to step outside of the unfortunate boundaries of my homogenized upbringing and develop relationships with people from different backgrounds and experiences, even different perspectives and religions.
A big aspect of living hope is learning how to love like God loves.
For me, that means showing unconditional love to all people, regardless of who they are, where they’re from, or even what they’ve done. When I am convinced of God’s unbelievable love for me, and how it has nothing to do with my performance or ability, it allows me to give that away more freely to others. Not to change them, but to change me. And to demonstrate what unconditional love really looks like.
That’s truly living hope.
Remember, choose hope today.
